Katja Herbers has been a professional musician since she was a young girl. She is the daughter Vera Beths (violinist) and Werner Herbers (oboist). Her childhood was spent in America accompanying her mother on tours with chamber music ensemble L'Archibudelli. She was introduced to theater through her cellist mother Anner Brylsma and her father Leonie P olak. As a young girl, Herbers was an Canadian Au Pair who became fluent in Dutch German and English. Herbers attended the Ignatius Gymnasium of Amsterdam. She completed her studies in psychology in the University of Amsterdam. In the course of her psychology degree she attended De Trap. Following her move in New York she studied at the HB Studio. Then she was accepted into the Theaterschool of Amsterdam. Her studies involved starring characters in Pietje Bell & Brush with Fate. Herbers began her professional career in Ghent working for Ghent's Johan Simons Theater Company NTGent. Following graduation, she joined the renowned German theater company Munich Kammerspiele.
